COMPETITIONS
There are already several editions that we have organized of the “Historias Hiladas” contest at the Balenciaga Museum and the Tabakalera Cultural Center in San Sebastián. The objective is to spin sewing and fashion, giving importance to the making of the garment itself, in short, to the creation process. To do this, several groups made up of an emerging fashion designer, a design student and a couture aficionado have created impressive evening dresses.
MASTERCLASS
“MASTERS OF SEWING”
In 2017, the Masters of Sewing program premiered on RTVE. As an Official Collaborator, we launched a program of 12 free weekly masterclasses that we taught in our Alfa stores in parallel to the program. They were so well received that many “Amigas de Alfa” sewing academies joined the challenge. Once the program is over, we continue to teach them!
OUR MUSEUM
We have a plan for you. Would you like to take a historical tour of Alfa’s 100 years? More than 200 vintage Alfa models await you in our museum. Come to our facilities in Eibar and enjoy each of these treasures. Surely you recognize one of our machines and they bring back precious memories of your grandmother or mother between fabrics and stitches.
MY FIRST STITCHES
It is the ideal initiation workshop to have a first contact with an Alfa sewing machine. In these workshops you will learn the basic sewing techniques such as threading, making bobbins and the most used types of stitches. You will put what you have learned into practice by sewing an accessory such as a toiletry bag or a cloth bag.
HISTORIAS HILADAS
In the “Historias Hiladas” workshops you will learn not only how to use an Alfa sewing machine, but also some brushstrokes on the pattern making technique. You will apply everything you have learned by sewing a simple garment. You will see how good a garment feels when you have made it from scratch with your own hands (and with the help of an Alpha)!
