What can my baby eat?

First Stage: birth to 4-6 months

In this guide, I offer you my experience as a nutritionist and a mother. I want to make your everyday life easier, helping you to organize meals for your children..

Eating is a vital body function, and it is intended to satisfy certain biological needs. These needs change with age, and therefore our diet must provide the nutrients necessary at each stage of life. Nutrition in this early childhood stage, from 0-3 years, will serve as the foundation for the house we are building.

"I invite you to accompany me on this marvelous journey through flavors, colors and textures with recipes I have created with Alfa bbrobot"

Amaia Díaz de Monasterioguren is a professional nutritionist, cooks at home and collaborates with Alfa on a regular basis, advising the brand on matters related to diet and food preservation.

During the period from birth to 3 years of age, diet plays a fundamental role in a child's motor skill, psychological, sensory and physical development. There are no second chances; a poor diet during this stage, either too much or too little, will be irreversible in the future.

At birth, a nursing baby is only capable of suckling and swallowing liquid. The digestive system and the kidneys have not yet matured. This is why the diet must be milk-based. The nutrients and energy provided by the mother's milk or formula are sufficient.

My Advice

I'm aware how difficult it is today to reconcile work and family. Educating our children takes time and patience, and mealtime can often be a real battle.

Don't worry, the important thing is to listen to our children. Who knows better than us what our baby needs?

This advice from Amaia, recipes and much more can all be found in the book "Mi bebé come sano" (My Baby Eats Healthy)
